Forty percent (40%) of voters favor eliminating the Department of Education. A Napolitan News survey found that 48% are opposed. Along party lines, 62% of Republicans favor eliminating the Department of Education, while 75% of Democrats are opposed.

Eighty-nine percent (89%) say that a high school graduate should be able to read, write, and possess other basic skills needed to get a good job and function as an adult in society. Just 49% say that everyone who graduates from public schools has those skills.

Just 22% of voters say that if a student completes school without those basic life skills they should be allowed to graduate. This number is higher among those with postgraduate degrees, where 35% think such students should be allowed to graduate.

The Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters nationwide was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen March 10, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
