66% Favor Cheaper Over Gas Reducing Greenhouse Emissions

Publication: 04/22/2025 1:37 PM CST

As of last week, just 52% of voters know that Earth Day is celebrated in April. (It is celebrated today, April 22). Younger voters are more likely than their elders to know it is scheduled for this month.

Twelve percent (12%) of voters consider Earth Day one of our nation's most important holidays, while 40% consider it one of the least important.

These numbers help explain why two out of three voters (66%) say it is more important to reduce the cost and improve the reliability of electricity and gas for American families than it is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Thirty-one percent (31%) say reducing greenhouse gas emissions is more important.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen April 16, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
