  • Given a choice between four candidates of equal skills and temperament, 38% prefer a candidate who supports Trump-like policies.
    • That's up three points from two weeks ago.
    • Twenty percent (20%) prefer a candidate who supports policies like those of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), and 20% prefer a traditional Democrat.
    • Fourteen percent (14%) prefer a traditional Republican.
  • Since October 2020, we have asked this question, but about a candidate who prefers policies similar to those of Senator Bernie Sanders, rather than those of AOC. We have done so to highlight shifts of opinion within the two major political parties. This month, we have begun transitioning from asking about a candidate who supports Sanders' policies to one who supports AOC's, and will move fully to AOC by August. When we started this series in 2020, Bernie Sanders was the leading voice of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Now, AOC has taken on that role. It is appropriate, therefore, to make changes to our question wording to reflect that reality.
