The latest Napolitan News weekly survey shows that, given a choice of 4 candidates of equal skills and temperament, 26% would choose a candidate who advocated policies like President Donald Trump. Slightly less (23%) prefer a candidate with the policies of a Traditional Democrat, followed by 21% who prefer a Traditional Republican, and 20% who prefer a candidate with policies similar to those of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC).

We've been asking this question since 2020; a candidate with Trump's policies has only slipped to 26% twice before: both in April of 2026.

And there is evidence this is not statistical noise.

Last week, just 25% preferred policies like Trump's, 23% chose Traditional D, 22% Traditional R, and 19% AOC policies. That is the lowest support for Trump policies we have measured in any single survey ever. And, while a Trump-policy candidate has managed a plurality in every survey since 2020, that 2 point gap is the smallest on record.

In addition, over a full month since 2020, the lowest number to prefer a candidate with Trump's policies has been 28%, a number the president has been touching or flirting with for some time now. So far, he is on track for a new monthly low as well.

When President Trump was elected for his second term, that number was 37%.

The Current Climate

The latest data coincides with the recent flurry of Republicans in congress breaking with President Trump.

Also of note: while it is popular to discuss the rise of Socialism, it is worth noting that a candidate with AOC's policies consistently polls in fourth place in this question.
