  • Given a choice between four candidates with equal skills and temperament, a third (33%) prefer a candidate who supports Trump-like policies.
    • The rest are divided between a traditional Republican (19%), a Democrats supporting policies like those of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) (19%), and a traditional Democrat (22%).
    • When we started asking the question five years ago, Bernie Sanders was the leading voice within the progressive wing of the Democratic party. AOC has now taken over that role, so we have transitioned to asking about policies similar to hers, rather than those of Senator Sanders. Since we began asking about AOC in June, these numbers have remained stable.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 2,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen August 4-7, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 2.2.
