- Thirty-five percent (35%) of voters prefer a candidate who supports Trump-like policies, given a choice between four candidates of equal skills and temperament.
- Half as many prefer a traditional Republican.
- On the Democratic side, 17% prefer a candidate who supports policies like those of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), and 22% prefer a traditional Democrat.
NOTE: Since October 2020, we have asked this question, but about a candidate supporting Senator Bernie Sanders' policies, rather than about AOC's. This week, we have begun a transition. Over the coming week, we will alternately ask about Sanders and AOC, moving only to AOC in August. When we started this series in 2020, Bernie Sanders was the leading voice of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Now, AOC has taken on that role. It is appropriate, therefore, to make changes to our question wording to reflect that reality.
