  • Just 16% rate their local public schools as excellent.
    • Another 43% say they are good, and 36% rate them as just fair (27%) or poor (9%).
    • There is little difference between Republicans and Democrats on this question.
  • Fifty-three percent (53%) say that everyone who graduates from local high schools in their areas has the ability to read, write, get a good job, and function as an adult in society.
    • A quarter (24%) say not all graduates have those skills.
  • The overwhelming majority (87%) of voters say it is more important to ensure that everyone who graduates from high school has the basic skills needed to function as an adult in society than it is to make sure everyone can go to college (12%).


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen August 6-7, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
