Given a choice between four candidates of equal skills and temperament, 34% of voters would prefer a candidate who advocates Trump-like policies. A Napolitan News survey of over 9,200 voters in April found that only 14% would prefer a candidate advocating traditional Republican policies.

On the other side of the aisle, 24% prefer a candidate advocating policies like those of Bernie Sanders, while 19% would favor a more traditional Democrat.

We ask this question in every survey. Over the past five years, a plurality have always favored a candidate offering Trump-like policies. In December 2024 and January 2025, 38% of voters favored such a candidate. The number slipped a point to 37% in February and March, before falling three points in April to 34%.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 9,212 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen April 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 1.02.
