Fourteen percent of voters (14%) say Artificial Intelligence is Very Likely to end humanity and kill everyone. In contrast, 22% say it is Not At All Likely. Including voters who are less confident, 40% of voters say it's at least Somewhat Likely that AI will end humanity, while 47% disagree.

However, one group is particularly concerned. Followers of Napolitan News will not be surprised to hear that it is those who talk politics on a daily basis. A whopping 43% of this group (which make up about 10% of voters) say it is Very Likely AI will end humanity.

While there is little party divide on the question, both the extreme wings of each party (those who prefer policies like President Trump and those who prefer policies like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) are more concerned than their more traditional counterparts. Perhaps surpisingly, the Trump base leads the 4-Way Choice pack, with 22% considering it Very Likely AI will kill everyone, and a majority (54%) saying it is at least Somewhat Likely.

U.S. Vs. China

Despite this, however, voters in both parties are firmly entrenched in leading the world race in AI over China.

In what some are framing as a new nuclear arms race, 30% say it is Very Important to lead the world in AI development over China, while just 11% consider it Not At All Important. A strong majority (61%) consider it at least Somewhat Important, compared to just 28% who disagree.

While Republicans are more likely to consider this race Very Important than Democrats by a 2-to-1 margin (44% R, 21% D) both parties have a majority who say it is at least Somewhat Important.
