  • One quarter (25%) of voters say that certain political leaders are chosen by God, but 64% disagree.
    • As people who generally believe in the sovereignty of God, almost half (49%) of Evangelical Christian voters said certain political leaders are chosen by God.
    • Only 30% of post graduates agree.
  • Among voters who believe God chooses leaders, 75% say that God chose Donald Trump to be President of the United States.
    • Similarly, 59% of those voters believe that J.D. Vance was chosen by God to be Vice President.
    • Only 37% of those voters say Joe Biden and 31% say Kamala Harris were chosen by God.
    • Fewer of those voters (38%) say Mike Johnson was chosen, and still fewer (23%) say God chose Hakeem Jeffries.
  • Some political leaders talk about being on the side of God, or about God giving them the power that they have.
    • A majority (57%) say this type of rhetoric and attitude is dangerous.
    • Only 23% say it is helpful.
    • About one third (36%) of Republicans say it is helpful, but only 14% of Democrats say the same thing.
    • Three quarters (77%) of Democrats say it is dangerous for political leaders to talk about being on God's side or receiving power from Him.

 


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, October 1, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
