39% Say U.S. Is Winning Iran War

  • Currently, 39% of voters say the U.S. is winning the war in Iran. A similar number (37%) say neither side is winning.
    • Seventeen percent (17%) are not sure, while just 7% say Iran is winning.
    • Seven in 10 Republicans (69%) say the U.S. is winning, while just over half of Democrats (51%) say neither side is winning.
  • Support for the attacks has remained largely unchanged: 36% favor the attacks and 57% oppose them.
    • Those numbers include 18% who Strongly Favor them and 40% who Strongly Oppose them.
    • Democrats overwhelmingly oppose the war, while Trump-policy voters overwhelmingly favor it.
    • However, Traditional GOP voters oppose the attacks by a margin of 52% to 42%.
  • A majority of (53%) say it is as at least Somewhat Likely Iran will have to give up the uranium it uses for nuclear development.
    • Thirty percent (30%) say it is Very Likely.
    • As expected, the partisan divides are striking. Three quarters (75%) of Republicans say it is at least Somewhat Likely.
    • A plurality of Democrats (42%) say it is unlikely, while about a quarter (23%) are not sure.
  • The story continues to be one of the most closely followed in years, with 30% saying they are following it Very Closely.
    • That is more than the 27% who followed the Epstein stories Very Closely, but less than the 37% who followed news of the Minneapolis shootings Very Closely.
    • Over the course of the war, as many as 40% of voters say they have followed it Very Closely.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 5-6, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
