  • Forty-two percent (42%) of voters say the recent indictments of FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Latitia James, and former National Security Advisor John Bolton are legitimate ways to deal with crimes they may have committed.
    • Forty-eight percent (48%) disagree and say the indictments were primarily politically motivated.
    • Unsurprisingly, there are clear party lines: Republicans say the indictments are legitimate by a 69% to 23% margin.
    • Democrats disagree and call the indictments politically motivated by a 72% to 18% margin.
  • A majority (52%) of those who Talk Politics Every Day or Nearly Every Day say they are legitimate responses.
    • The less frequently voters discuss politics, the less likely they are to see the indictments as legitimate.
    • Just 33% who Rarely or Never talk politics see the indictments as legitimate.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, October 22, 2025. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
