  • Forty-nine percent (49%) of voters favor President Trump's decision to federalize the Washington, DC, police.
    • A Napolitan News survey found that 45% are opposed.
    • These numbers include 25% who strongly favor the decision, and 30% who strongly oppose it.
  • Just 35% say Washington, DC is safer than most cities.
    • Half (50%) of voters say it is more dangerous.
    • These numbers include 10% who say it is much safer and 18% who say it is much more dangerous.
  • A plurality (40%) did not know at the time of this survey if the DC police union had expressed support or opposition in regards to this federal takeover.
    • The rest were split: 27% said they supported it, and 33% said they opposed it.

 


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen August 13-14, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
