  • A large majority (71%) of voters say that smart phones are good for America.
    • Just 23% say they are bad. 
  • Among those who say they are good for America, 24% say that is because they allow for contact in emergency situations, 19% because they help people to access information, and 18% because they improve communication.
    • Among those who say they are bad, 29% say they cause distraction and isolation and 26% that they are addictive.
  • Sixty-five percent (65%) say that kids should be 14 or older before getting their first smart phones.


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen August 4-5, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
