  • Currently, 72% say that they are proud to be an American.
    • This is down 7 points down from last month and down 9 from February.
    • Sadly, 18% say they are not proud to be an American. This is up 7 points from last month and up 10 from February.
    • Nine in 10 Republicans (90%) are proud to be an American, along with just 55% of Democrats.
    • Voters who prefer AOC-type policies are the least enthusiastic group, with just 39% who are proud to be American.
  • Almost half of voters (49%) believe that America's best days are still to come.
    • That is up from 1 point last month but down 4 from February.
    • Almost a third (31%) disagree and say that America's best days have come and gone, down 4 points from last month but up 2 from February.
    • Republicans believe the best days are still to come by a 65% to 22% margin.
    • Democrats are divided. A plurality (40%) believe the best days have come and gone, while 36% say the best days are still to come.
  • Currently, 42% of voters say America is the last best hope of mankind.
    • This is down 5 points from last month and down 8 points since last October.
    • Thirty-five percent (35%) say America is not the last best hope of mankind.
    • Republicans say America is the last best hope by a 64% to 17% margin.
    • Democrats disagree by a margin of 53% to 25%.
    • More men (50%) than women (35%) say America is the last best hope of mankind.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, May 11-12, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
