72% think Federal Agencies Should Publicly Disclose Guidance on How Regulations Will Be Enforced

12/09/2024

Seventy-two percent (72%) think that federal agencies should be required to publicly disclose and post online all guidances regarding regulations on how the government will enforce a regulation or law passed by congress. A Napolitan News survey found that just 11% disagreed.

Reigning in powerful federal agencies has been a top issue for the incoming Trump administration, and increased transparency could have a significant impact. Several states are considering requirements that any federal guidance received by state agencies must be disclosed to the public and the state legislature.

Currently, 45% of voters believe the federal government has too much power relative to state governments. In comparison, just 16% think states have too much power, and 24% think the balance of power between federal government and states is about right.

The Napolitan News Service surveys of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen December 2-3, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
