  • Eight in 10 registered voters (80%) believe that religious freedom means that people are free to practice and talk about religion publicly, including with those who do not share their religious beliefs.
    • The other 20% of voters say it means that people are free to practice and talk about religion privately, but should not talk about it in public.
    • Republicans and Democrats had identical views where 79% say people should be free to publicly practice their religion, and 21% said it should be a private matter.
    • More post graduates (33%) agreed that religion should remain private.
    • At least 90% of retired voters or those over 65 said that religious freedom means that people should be free to practice and talk about religion publicly. 


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, October 1, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
