  • Eighty-three percent (83%) of voters believe that America was founded on the ideals of freedom, equality, and self-governance.
  • Of the three, 60% say that freedom is the most important, followed by equality (30%), and self-governance (8%).
  • A majority (52%) of voters say that Republicans favor those founding ideals, and a plurality (39%) says the same of Democrats.
  • Asked about Donald Trump, 44% say he believes in those founding ideals, while 47% say he does not. 


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen June 18-19, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
