In the full month of August, President Trump's job approval was 44%, while 54% disapproved. Approval is unchanged since July, while disapproval is up a point. For a longer-term view, the 44% approval is up 2 points from May, but down 6 points from October of 2025.

The current numbers include 23% who Strongly Approve and 42% who Strongly Disapprove.
Among voters who are Politically Engaged (meaning they talk politics at least most days), the president enjoys a 56% approval rating. Among all other voters, his approval rating falls to 39%.

As a point of reference, just 28% of voters were Politically Engaged in the month of August. Among those who talk politics every day or nearly every day (10% of all August voters) , the president enjoys a 63% approval rating.
Voters who talk politics daily or nearly every day are frequently out of touch with the rest of the nation, whether in their opinion of politicians, opinion on actions taken by them, or trust in the federal government overall.
