Fifty-two percent (52%) of voters believe the recent arrests of 80 Columbia University students for participating in pro-Palestinian protests were appropriate. A Napolitan News Survey found that just 29% say they were not.

By a narrower 45% to 37% margin, voters say any of the arrested students who were not U.S. citizens should be deported.

Overall, 47% of voters disapprove of recent protests on college campuses, while 31% approve.

That net -16 points is down from -7 points in March, but up from net -30 points last summer.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen May 12-13, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
