Only 23% Expect A More Unified America In A Year

Publication: 03/28/2025 4:00 PM CST

Twenty three percent (23%) of voters believe that America will be more unified in a year, while 40% expect it to be more polarized. Both figures are eight points higher than when the question was asked in June 2021 (five months into President Biden's term). The difference likely results from the fact that Donald Trump evokes stronger reactions-- both positive and negative-- than Joe Biden.

Most Democrats (57%) expect the nation to be more polarized in a year. A plurality (40%) of Republicans expect the nation will be more unified.

The Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters nationwide was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen March 24-25, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
