  • Thirty-eight percent (38%) of voters say that President Trump's tariffs have been good for the economy, while 50% say they have been bad.
    • The only time those ratings have been lower this year is in late April 2025, just after the tariffs were announced following Liberation Day.
    • The numbers include 16% who say tariffs have been Very Good for the economy, while 31% say they have been Very Bad.
    • Partisan politics abound, as 7 in 10 Republicans (68%) say tariffs have been good for the economy, compared to 8 in 10 Democrats (80%) who disagree.
  • Sixty-three percent (63%) of voters say tariffs have caused prices on consumer goods to go up, while just 12% disagree.
    • Another 16% claim the tariffs have had no impact on prices.
    • This is up 4 points from earlier this month.
    • A solid plurality (48%) of Republicans say tariffs have caused higher prices on consumer goods, along with 81% of Democrats.
    • Postgraduate voters are also more pessimistic, with 71% saying they have caused prices to go up.
  • Currently, 55% of voters disapprove of how President Trump is handling the issue of tariffs overall.
    • This is the highest disapproval rating so far, up from 52% earlier this month and up 51% in November.
    • Just 40% of voters approve, the lowest rating he has received regarding his handling of the tariffs.
    • These numbers include 38% who Strongly Disapprove and half as many (19%) who Strongly Approve.
    • Republicans approve of the president's handling of the issue by a 75% to 20% margin.
    • Democrats disapprove by an even larger 86% to 12% margin.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, February 23-24, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
