Overall, 77% of voters rate the local police in their communities as excellent or good. A Napolitan News Survey found that just 9% rate them as poor.

Two-thirds (66%) of all voters feel safe walking alone at night in their own neighborhoods.

Still, there are large splits based on race and age on these topics. In addition, voters aware of violent or serious crime in their neighborhood in the past year rate the police lower across the board, and significantly below the national average.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen May 19-20, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
