Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters nationwide say Donald Trump is at least as ethical as most politicians. A Napolitan News survey found that 45% disagree and say he is less ethical than his peers.
Those numbers reflect a dramatic improvement from a year ago. In January 2024, just 41% believed him to be as ethical as most politicians, and 53% said less ethical. What's particularly stunning about this reversal is that it took place during a time when a Manhattan jury found the president guilty of falsifying business records.
That sentencing led to a controversial sentencing of Trump earlier this week by Judge Marchan. The results suggest that most voters have discounted the lawfare conducted against the president as merely partisan politics.
The numbers have gone in the opposite direction for Joe Biden. A year ago, he was seen as more ethical than Donald Trump by a wide margin. Today, perceptions of Biden are virtually identical to those of Trump: 51% say he is at least as ethical as most politicians, and 45% say less ethical.
However, Trump is seen as more ethical than most politicians by 34% of voters. Just 24% see Biden in such a positive light.
