Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters say the majority of Americans who receive food stamps are truly in need. A Napolitan News survey found that just 39% disagree and believe there is widespread abuse of the system.
At the same time, 66% say it is likely that large amounts of young, able-bodied people are choosing not to work because they receive food stamps and other government assistance. Just 30% say it is unlikely. Those totals include 30% who say it is very likely that large numbers refuse to work and 11% say it is very unlikely.
