57% Believe President Has Too Much Power

A solid majority (57%) of voters believe the President has too much power, down 1 point from February.
- That total is split among those who believe he has Far Too Much (37%) and Somewhat Too Much (20%).
- Still, while Biden was in office in August 2024, only 35% of voters believed the President had too much power.
- One quarter (24%) of voters believe the President's level of power is About the Right Amount.
- Seventeen percent (15%) believe it is too little.
Four in 10 voters (39%) believe that Congress has too much power, down 2 points from February and down 1 point from January.
- That total includes 16% who say it has Far Too Much and 23% who say Somewhat Too Much.
- One quarter (27%) say Congress has too little power (up 2 points from February), while 26% say it has About the Right Amount.
- By a 44% to 18% margin, Republicans say Congress has too much power, and a third (31%) say it is About the Right Amount.
- A plurality of Democrats (38%) claim it has too little power, 34% say it has too much power, and another 18% say it is About the Right Amount.
Similarly, 39% of voters believe the Supreme Court has too much power, down 5 points from February and down 3 from January.
- This group is split among those who believe it has Far Too Much (19%) and Somewhat Too Much (20%).
- One in 5 voters (21%) say the Supreme Court has too little power, while 33% believe its level of power is about right.
- One in 4 Republicans (39%) say the Court has too much power, 43% believe it has about the right amount, and only 13% say it has too little power.
- Similarly, 42% of Democrats also say the court has too much power, but 27% believe it has too little.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, April 8-9, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
