When it comes to pharmaceutical drug prices, 59% of voters agree with President Trump's claims that other countries are unfairly free-riding on U.S. research in a way that harms U.S. consumers.

A Napolitan News Survey found that this includes 83% of Republicans and 37% of Democrats.

For voters, this issue is not as important as tariffs. Twenty percent (20%) say they are very closely following news about President Trump's plan to reduce pharmaceutical drug costs. That's significantly lower than the 30% very closely following stories about tariffs in a recent survey.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen May 12-13, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
