  • Three-quarters (77%) of Washington voters agree that state taxes are too high, including 42% who say they are much too high.
    • This includes 84% of Republicans and 71% of Democrats.
  • When told that the legislature and governor passed a $9 billion tax increase this year, that increases to 82% who say taxes are too high. 
    • Nearly half (48%) say they are much too high.
  • Eighty percent (80%) believe that all grocery stores should be subject to the same taxes, including large majorities of both Republicans (76%) and Democrats (82%).
    • Just 13% believe it is appropriate to increase taxes on some grocery stores while leaving others unaffected, as a new Washington state tax increase will do.
  • Eighty percent (80%) say that the legislature should wait and see how this year's tax increases work rather than beginning to think about further increases now.
    • There is broad agreement between Republicans (81%) and Democrats (79%) on this point.
