Eighty-three percent (83%) of voters believe that the United States was founded on the ideals of freedom, equality, and self-governance. This total includes 93% of Republicans and 77% of Democrats.
However, most are skeptical that other Americans share that belief. Just 48% think President Trump believes in those ideals. Fifty-one percent (51%) believe most Democrats believe in those ideals, and 49% say the same about Republicans.
This Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen February 24-25, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
