Twenty-eight percent (28)% of voters trust the federal government to do the right thing most of the time. A Napolitan News survey found that 30% rarely or never trust the federal government to do the right thing, while 42% trust the federal government some of the time.
It has been more than half a century since most voters trusted the federal government most of the time. That's a serious concern in a nation founded on the ideal that governments derive their only just authority from the consent of the governed. In fact, it raises core questions about the legitimacy of the government itself. The only way the government will regain the trust of those it seeks to rule is by becoming more responsive to voters.
This Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen February 19-20, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
