  • Just 5% of voters say that there is Not Very Much waste and fraud in federal spending.
    • In contrast, 65% say that either A Lot of (44%) or Most (21%) spending is waste and fraud.
    • Another 24% say there is Some waste and fraud.
    • These numbers are slightly higher than polls on the same topic in January and February, likely due to more discovery of fraud and coverage in the media.
    • Two thirds (67%) of Republicans say that either A Lot or Most spending is waste and fraud, and 64% of Democrats agree.
  • With all of the negative publicity ICE has received, 51% favors cutting funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and 44% opposes that idea.
    • These numbers include 34% who Strongly Favor and 29% who Strongly Oppose cutting funding for ICE.
    • Just 35% of Republicans favor cutting ICE funding, but 67% of Democrats favor cutting the funds.
  • Conversely, as many Americans travel by air, 63% oppose cutting funding for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
    • Only 27% favor cutting TSA funding.
    • Democrats and Republicans largely agree on this.
  • A majority (54%) oppose cutting funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and 37% favor cutting the funding.
    • More Republicans (64%) than Democrats (47%) oppose cutting DHS funds.
  • About 6 in 10 (62%) oppose cutting funds to the Federal Department of Education.
    • Just 32% favor cutting funds for that department.
    • Republicans are split with 48% favoring and 48% opposing cutting funds for the Federal Department of Education.
    • A strong majority (76%) of Democrats oppose funding cuts for the department.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, April 27-28, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
