  • A strong majority (57%) say the federal government is a threat to the freedom and liberty of individual Americans. Just 30% disagree.
    • Unsurprisingly, an overwhelming number of Democrats (82%) consider the government a threat, compared to just 30% of Republicans.
  • Republicans and voters who prefer Trump-like policies are the only measured demographic groups that have a majority saying the government is not a threat.
    • Republicans eke out a majority, with 52% saying it is not.
    • This is bolstered by voters who prefer Trump-like policies being a mirror image of the national average: just 30% say it is a threat, while 57% disagree.
    • However, a plurality of voters who prefer a Traditional Republican candidate still say it is a threat by a 41% to 36% margin.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen September 24-25, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1
