  • Just 47% now say they can set aside money for savings, down six points from two weeks ago.
    • In April, just 43% said they could set aside money, while it peaked at 53% in September.
  • However, the number of voters saying they would need to cut back on their lifestyle to make a surprise expense of $1,000 is steady at 45%.
    • That is a single point lower than our last survey, and down from 51% in late July.
  • Likewise, the number of voters fully paying off their credit cards bounced up three points to 49%.
    • This number has remained within two points of 50% since mid July.


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, September 22-23, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
