Note: New data coming in since the incident with Senator Alex Padilla has indicated a significant shift on these numbers. Napolitan News will be updating this story as soon as possible.

  • Forty-eight percent (48%) of voters are more concerned about state and local officials helping illegal immigrants avoid arrest than the federal government's efforts to find and deport illegal immigrants.
    • A Napolitan News survey found that 38% hold the opposite view.
  • A majority (53%) say that, if a warrant has been issued, a government official helping an illegal immigrant avoid arrest and escape should be arrested.
    • This question is designed to show a general attitude, and is not reflective of recent comments calling for Gov. Newsom's arrest.
  • Regarding the riots in LA, voters are split on whether to blame Mayor Bass or President Trump.
    • A narrow plurality (45%) blame Trump's decision to aggressively find and deport illegal immigrants.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen June 9, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
