Prior to the election, 65% of voters said news coverage matters more than money in elections, and they may have been right. Kamala Harris raised more then $1 billion in her condensed campaign time, nearly doubling what Donald Trump brought in.
However, Harris still enjoyed a large amount of media coverage from mainstream media - but her mainstream focus may have been where Trump made bigger gains.
The vast majority of voters said that both candidates should do news interviews on both mainstream and conservative media outlets. Trump's focus on non-traditional media, such as his interview with Joe Rogan, may have proved to connect with voters in a way that legacy media failed to.
