Sixty-five percent (65%) of voters say that media coverage has a greater impact on elections than money, while 26% say large campaign contributions make the bigger impact.
While biased media coverage is seen as a bigger problem, voters tend to see the campaign fundraising game as an extortion racket. If a small business owner refuses to make a contribution, 53% think it is likely that politicians will retaliate. Just 33% think that's not likely.
Most voters (58%) believe that most business owners contribute to political campaigns to help their businesses rather than to advance their political beliefs.
This Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on September 24-25, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
