Only 24% of voters trust the federal government to do the right thing a majority of the time.
- About one third (35%) of registered voters Rarely or Never trust the federal government to do the right thing.
- This is up 4 points from a month ago.
It has been over 50 years since a majority of Americans trusted the government to do the right thing a majority of the time.
- Just 20% of Democrats trust the federal government Most or Just About All of the time, while 31% of Republicans hold that level of trust.
- Trust levels usually favor the party in the White House. This is still true this month, but Republican trust fell 5 points from 36%.
Forty-four percent (44%) of postgraduates say they trust the federal government to do the right thing just about All or Most of the time.
Politically engaged voters continue to lose optimism. Only 23% say they trust the federal government to do the right thing Most or Just About All of the time.
- This is down 4 points from a month ago.
- In September and August, 43% and 45%, respectively, said the same.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, November 19-20, 2025. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
