Throughout the war in Iran, public opinion has remained remarkably stable. Shortly after the first attacks in early March, 40% of voters favored the attack on Iran, and 42% approved of the president's handling of the situation in Iran in general.

Looking Back

Support for the attacks was as low as 35% in April and as high as 43% in March. On the other hand, disapproval has been above 50% since mid-March, peaking at 61% in April.

President Trump's handling of the situation looks similar during that time frame: other than a lone high of 46%, approval has stayed between 35% and 44% during the entirety of the conflict, while disapproval has stayed above 50% since mid-March, peaking at 63% and hitting 62% twice.

The Effects

Despite little shift in the numbers, the consequences from the war are economically devastating for Republicans. Thirty-five percent (35%) approve of the president's handling of inflation, and the number reporting that they are better of from 4 years ago has reached a new low.
