  • Thirty-one percent (31%) of voters say their personal finances are getting better, and 27% say worse.
    • This is the second survey in a row where more voters have said their finances were getting better than worse. That hasn't happened in nearly four years.
  • Thirty-seven percent (37%) say that the U.S. is currently in a recession.
    • When President Trump was inaugurated, 33% thought the U.S. was in a recession. That total declined a bit in February and moved up some in March.
    • Since April, when the tariff policies were announced, the number saying the US was in a recession has ranged from 34% to 41%.


The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen June 2-3, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
