Among voters who are Politically Engaged (meaning they talk politics at least most days), the president enjoys a 53% approval rating. Among all other voters, his approval rating falls to 38%.
As a point of reference, just 30% of voters were Politically Engaged in the month of September. That is up 2 points from August, possibly influenced by the upcoming midterms. Among those who talk politics every day or nearly every day (10% of all September voters), the president enjoys a 57% approval rating.
Voters who talk politics daily or nearly every day are frequently out of touch with the rest of the nation, whether in their opinion of politicians, opinion on actions taken by them, or trust in the federal government overall.
