  • President Trump's speech helped him gain back some lost ground on the situation in Iran, and revealed a path forward -if he can deliver.
    • Days before the speech, support for the attacks on Iran was at 35 and 36 percent, while disapproval ranged as high as 61%.
  • After the speech, support for the attacks went to 39% - a small victory - but opposition went down 10 points to 51%.
    • Approval for Trump's handling of Iran in general received a stronger bounce from the speech, with approval going from 36% to 44%, while disapproval dropped 11 points.
  • More significantly, when asked if short term gas price increases were worth it to remove the Iranian nuclear threat, 46% said yes, and just 39% said no.
    • Republicans agreed by a margin of 72% to 14%, while Democrats disagreed by a margin of 59% to 29% percent.
  • Of course, the question now is: can the president insure that the increases will be short term by winning a quick victory, and will the result actually end in the removal of Iran's nuclear threat?
    • Currently, just 31% of voters believe the fighting is at least Somewhat Likely to end in the next few weeks, while 59% disagree.
    • A majority of Trump-policy voters say it will end within a few weeks, but majorities of Traditional GOP voters as well as AOC-policy and Traditional Democrats disagree.
  • Overall, 42% of voters say the results from the attack on Iran will be good for America, while 46% say they will be bad.
    • Those numbers include 17% who say they will be Very Good, but 23% who say they will be Very Bad.
