  • A plurality of registered voters (35%) say the country is currently in a recession, and 34% say it is not.
    • Voters' opinions have gone up and down over the last several weeks. Two weeks ago, 39% said the country is currently in a recession, but only 31% said the same a month ago.
    • Half (50%) of Democrats say the U.S. is in a recession, while 23% disagree.
    • Republicans are more optimistic; only 21% say the country is in a recession, and 48% disagree.
  • Among the 35% who say the U.S. is in a recession, most (61%) say it will not end in the next 6 months.
    • Similarly, among the 34% of voters who say we are not in a recession, most (62%) say the U.S. will not enter a recession in the next 6 months.
    • As always, the party in power is more optimistic.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, November 17-18, 2025. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
