  • Forty-two percent (42%) of voters say President Trump should have briefed Congress before the military action in Venezuela, while 43% disagree and say secrecy was the correct move in order to increase the chances of success.
    • Two thirds (68%) of Republicans prioritized secrecy, while 66% of Democrats disagree and say Congress should have been briefed.
  • Regardless of what they think President Trump should have done, just 31% are convinced Congress would have kept the attack a secret.
    • Thirty-six percent (36%) say the plan would have been leaked, letting Maduro know, while 33% are Not Sure.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, January 5, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
