  • Forty-three percent (43%) of registered voters approve of how SCOTUS performs its job, down 1 point from December.
    • Half (50%) of voters disapprove.
    • Those numbers include 11% who Strongly Approve, but 26% who Strongly Disapprove.
    • Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Republicans approve, while 76% of Democrats disapprove.
  • More voters continue to believe that the court is too conservative rather than too liberal.
    • A plurality (42%) says too conservative, up 4 points from December.
    • Just 18% say it is too liberal, down 1 point from last month.
    • Twenty-nine percent (29%) say the ideological balance is about right. Among Republicans, a plurality (46%) also holds that opinion.
  • Voters overwhelmingly believe that, when faced with a dispute between individual freedom and the authority of government regulations, the court supports regulation over freedom.
    • Just 16% say the court favors individual freedom more.
    • Forty-four percent (44%) believe it favors government regulations, while 30% say the balance is about right.
    • A plurality (40%) of Republicans say the court's support for government regulations and individual freedom is about equal, 35% believe SCOTUS favors government regulations, and only 16% say the court favors individual freedom.
    • Democrats overwhelmingly believe the court favors government regulations to individual freedom by a 52% to 16% margin. Only 20% say the support is about equal.


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, January 21-22, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
