Forty-six percent (46%) of Americans believe it is at least Somewhat Likely that a human will set foot on mars within a decade. Forty-one percent (41%) think it is unlikely.

When asked who will reach Mars first, 36% favor SpaceX, the privately owned company with a goal for multi-planetary life. Twenty-three percent (23%) believe it will be the US government, while 10% think the Chinese government will get there first.

If offered the possibility of a free trip to space and orbiting the earth for themselves, 38% of voters would take the opportunity.

The Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters nationwide was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen March 124-25, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
