As voters try to navigate around a broken health care system, over half (52%) say they or a close family member have used a discount card like GoodRX to help pay for a prescription. A Napolitan News Survey found that 41% have not.

The survey also found that 45% of voters say they or a close family member have not gotten a needed prescription due to cost.

Both numbers help explain why 24% of American voters say they are very closely following Donald Trump's efforts to reduce prices.

The current disfunction is why a majority also agree that other countries are free riding off of U.S. pharmaceutical research, and only 31% of voters think lowering costs will lead to lower quality drugs.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen May 14-15, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
