Under current law, TikTok will be banned in the United States on January 19. Among voters who never use TikTok, 59% favor banning the app and just 10% would rather change the law so it can keep operating in the U.S.
However, a Napolitan News survey found that even occasional use of the app dramatically changes perceptions. Among those who use TikTok once a week or less, just 22% support the ban and 36% want the law changed. Among regular users of TikTok, a solid majority want the law changed. Of those who use TikTok several times a day, only 13% favor the ban, but 60% would rather the law be changed.
From a different perspective, 57% of senior citizens (65+) say TikTok should be banned. Just 30% of those under 35 agree. Most (56%) of these younger voters would rather have the law changed so that TikTok can continue to be used in the United States. Those age dynamics are closely related to the fact that older voters rarely use TikTok.
The Napolitan News Service surveys of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen December 16-17, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
