  • Sixty-four percent (64%) of voters have a favorable opinion of the federal government food stamps program, while 29% have an unfavorable opinion.
    • Those numbers include 30% who have a Very Favorable opinion and 9% who have a Very Unfavorable opinion.
    • A majority of both parties have a favorable opinion of the food stamps program, including 73% of Democrats and 55% of Republicans.
  • Overall, 40% of voters say a family of 4 making $60,000 per year should be eligible for food stamps.
    • That is down 6 points from May.
    • Thirty-nine percent (39%) disagree and say they should not be eligible.
    • A majority (56%) of voters who prefer AOC-like policies say they should, while just 36% of voters preferring traditional Democratic policies agree.
    • Republicans are more unified, with 35% of those who prefer Trump-like policies saying a family of 4 should be eligible at $60,000, and 40% of voters who prefer traditional Republican policies saying the same.
    • In addition, 65% of voters under 35 say such a family should be eligible, compared to 16% of seniors.
  • Overall, 85% support eligibility for a family of 4 making $30,000 per year.
    • Just 7% say they should not be eligible 
  • Forty-five percent (45%) of voters think that someone eligible for other, smaller welfare benefits with less strict eligibility requirements should be automatically eligible for food stamps.
    • 29% disagree and say they should not.
    • Just 37% of Republicans say such a person should be eligible, while 54% of Democrats agree.
  • However, just 29% think people with significant assets (like bank accounts, houses, and stocks) should be eligible for food stamps.

 


This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, November 10-11, 2025. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
