Thirty percent (30%) of voters say too many people receiving food stamps is a bigger problem than too many people not getting the assistance they need. A Napolitan News survey finds that twice as many (62%) disagree and believe the bigger problem is people not getting the assistance they need.

However, 73% of all voters say that people who are able should be required to work in order to receive food stamps.

Voters have long been supporters of requiring able-bodied people to work if they receive federal benefits, including healthcare.

The most recent data cited is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen May 14-15, 2025. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
