The latest Napolitan News survey found that 43% of voters a favorable opinion of Vice President J.D. Vance, while 48% have an unfavorable opinion. Those numbers include 23% who have a Very Favorable opinion and 37% who have a Very Unfavorable one. Just 7% have either not heard of the Vice President or don't know enough to have an opinion.

When Napolitan last asked in August, Vance received one of his best reviews since taking office: 48% had a favorable opinion, and 44% had an unfavorable one.

Still, looking over all of 2026, the numbers have not moved much. In January, 46% had a favorable opinion and 48% had an unfavorable one. In 6 of 7 surveys this year, between 43% and 48% have viewed Vance Favorably. The only exception was in April, when 40% viewed the Vice President in a favorable light. The amount of voters viewing Vance unfavorably has been slightly more volatile, though 5 of 7 surveys since January have been between 48% and 52%. The two exceptions were in July (43%) and August (44%).

When Vance took office, 46% had a favorable opinion, 41% had an unfavorable one, and 13% were undecided or hadn't heard of him. It is common for politicians to become less popular after taking office, as voters who were on the fence or don't have an opinion become dissatisfied.

This data is from a Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters conducted online by Scott Rasmussen, October 5-6, 2026. RMG Research, Inc., conducted the field work for the survey. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1.
